If your fetch sessions are starting to feel one-sided, it’s time to change the game with Fetch Fusion Focus! This interactive game to play with your dog combines fetch, tug, and focus training to challenge your dog’s brain, improve their impulse control, and boost your recall.
HOW TO PLAY:
Start with a fetch toy your dog loves - ideally one that’s easy to throw and tug like our Pocket Powerball Fauxtastic or our Fauxtastic Powerball Bungee.
Before throwing the toy, ask your dog to perform a cue they know well - like sit, touch or even high five! This will help build your dog’s impulse control and focus while also making the game more dynamic.
Once your dog’s performed the task, reward them by throwing the toy and watch them sprint to fetch it. The goal is to get your dog to tune in to you, creating a strong connection before the excitement of the fetch begins.
When your dog brings the toy back, engage them in a super fun tugging session. This rewards your dog for coming back and makes it ultra satisfying for them to be close to you.
Make the game more challenging by adding extra behaviour cues before your dog’s released to fetch. You can chain cues together like asking for a sit, then a paw or any behaviours your dog knows well.
TOP TIP:
Always end the game on a high with an interactive tugging session so your dog is heavily rewarded for controlling their impulses, listening, and coming back to you on autopilot.
